Our History

In 1950 Robert C. Kirchner founded Monumental Supply in a small Highlandtown building. While the building had obvious space limitations, it gave us room to demonstrate our dependability and flair for service. We quickly became the leading supplier in the Baltimore area for pipe, valves and fittings and were outgrowing our tiny facility.

In 1955 we moved into a larger space but still felt pressed for room to service our rapidly growing number of customers in industry and business. By 1963 we had acquired a 30,000 square foot building so that we could carry the most complete stock of pipe in Maryland, as well as a full supply of leading brand name valves, fittings and related industrial supplies. Currently our facilities comprise well over 150, 000 square feet and growing.

In 2002 after years of providing various parts to the logistics industry we opened a separate division that could offer a more complete selection of logistics services to the industry.  Founded on the same legacy of planning and growth began by Bob Kirchner over 50 years ago, the result was American Trading & Logistics Company.  Since that time we have developed into the premier pipe supplier in the Mid-Atlantic region. The key to our tremendous growth was and is our commitment to dependability and service, as well as our encouragement of customers and employees to offer suggestions that will keep us focused on being the premier supplier to the logistics industry.
